New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed when Noni Madueke and his fellow England youth International Levi Colwill will resume for preseason.
The duo are currently on duty with the England U21s who have advanced to the final of the European U21 Championship with Madueke playing a key role for Lee Carsley's side, particularly in the game against Germany where he was named the man-of-the-match.
The winger joined Chelsea in the January transfer window from PSV Eindhoven, signing a seven-and-a-half-year contract, with a club option to extend for a further year.
Having initially struggled for game time, Madueke broke into Chelsea's starting lineup in the season run-in, starting five of the last six games in the Premier League, and caught the eye with his direct dribbling and quick feet.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace schoolboy scored his first Premier League goal as Chelsea were beaten 3-1 by Arsenal on May 2.
At his first press conference as Chelsea manager, Pochettino was asked if he had a chance to speak to Levi Colwill or Noni Madueke about their role.
In quotes relayed by Football. London, the Argentine football tactician said: "We spoke yesterday with Levi and Noni. One I know, Noni, from Tottenham, in the Under-18s. Of course Levi I didn't know but I introduced myself to him. I wished them all the best tomorrow.
"It's true that, for me, it's difficult because it's Spain-England. I wish them all the best. We're waiting for them to be with the team, I think the day we will fly to America, they will join us".
Chelsea will spend the summer touring the United States, where they will play pre-season matches against Wrexham, Brighton, Newcastle United, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund.
Madueke will be hoping he can impress his new boss and be a part of his plans heading into the new season.
