Shoretire shows glimpses of his quality, Oyedele benched as Man Utd secure win v Leeds
Published: July 12, 2023Shola Shoretire was involved while Maxi Oyedele was an unused substitute in Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Leeds United in a pre-season game played at the Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo on Wednesday evening.
The 19-year-old was among the host of substitutes that came on at the start of the second half for the Red Devils and was in action till the end of the game.
Although the England youth teamer of Nigerian descent wasn't involved in any of the goals, he showed glimpses of his quality with some clever touches during the game.
Noam Emeran gave United the lead in the 67th minute when he run onto a through ball before burying the ball in the back of the net.
Joe Hugill will seal the victory for Erik Ten Hag's side in the 81st minute from Emeran's assist.
Shoretire spent the second half of last season on loan with Bolton Wanderers and must have been glad to be a part of Manchester United's pre-season plans.
For Oyedele, he will be hoping that he can also get a chance to impress manager Erik ten Hag in subsequent games.
The Red Devils will next face French Ligue 1 side Lyon at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on July 19.
