Napoli coach provides update on the future of Man Utd, Chelsea-linked striker Osimhen
Published: July 15, 2023
Providing an update on the future of Victor Osimhen, Napoli manager Rudi Garcia has claimed that the Super Eagles forward wants to stay at the club and achieve more success.
The future of the star striker has been one of the subjects of discussion in the transfer window having been linked with European heavyweights, Bayern Munich, PSG, Manchester United and Chelsea.
The 24-year-old is one of the most proficient strikers in Europe at the moment having helped Napoli to win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years, scoring 26 goals in 32 games in the Serie A.
This is why the Italian champions are reluctant to sell the Nigerian forward and have placed a heavy price tag on him to scare his suitors away.
Garcia who was just appointed as Napoli's boss is optimistic that Osimhen intends to stay with the Blues and record more successes.
In quotes relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, the French football tactician said: "Of course I have spoken to him.
"I can assure you that he wants to stay, he is happy to be with us and still wants to do great things."
The 2022/2023 Serie A best striker is yet to resume for pre-season activities as he has been given an extended stay following his involvement in International duty with Nigeria in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone last month.
