Official: Manchester United confirm teenage Nigerian striker has signed new deal
Published: July 17, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Premier League giants Manchester United have announced their new intake of academy scholars for the 2023-2024 season.
As per Premier League rules, all players in their U17 year are required to start the season on a scholarship agreement, before they are permitted to sign a first professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported 125 days ago that Golden Eaglets-eligible player Victor Musa will be among the new intake of Red Devils academy scholars for the forthcoming campaign.
Manchester United have confirmed as much, listing him among the eleven players who have signed scholarship deals and have been promoted to the U18 squad on a permanent basis.
The Spanish-born Nigerian striker experienced U18s football last season, making 22 appearances combined in the U18 Premier League, U18 Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup - a testament to how highly he's rated by the Manchester United youth team coaches.
Musa has already started pre-season training with Manchester United U18s and was in the squad that held non-leaguers Gainsborough Trinity FC to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, July 15.
The 16-year-old, who joined Manchester United in the summer of 2021, has scored six goals in competitive matches for the U18s.
