Fulham make N15.5b bid for Super Eagles CB who is homegrown in the eyes of PL
Published: July 19, 2023
Fulham have entered the race to sign Super Eagles center back Calvin Bassey.
This is according to reliable transfer journalist of The Athletic, David Ornstein, who revealed on Wednesday morning that Fulham have made a 15 million pounds offer (approximately N15.5b in Nigerian currency) to Ajax for his services but are yet to receive a response.
The Cottagers want to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new campaign as they conceded 53 goals last season in the Premier League which is the second-highest among teams that finished in the top half of the table.
The addition of Bassey will also make up for the void in Fulham's homegrown slots that might be caused by the potential departure of Tosin Adarabioyo as he qualifies as a Premier League homegrown player having spent his formative years with Leicester City.
The 23-year-old struggled in his first season in the Eredivisie and has continuously received backlash for his unconvincing performances which explains why he is already being linked with an exit from Ajax just after a year of his arrival at the club.
He has also been linked with a move to Brighton as a replacement for Levi Colwill who has returned to Chelsea after the end of his loan spell.
