Fiabema in advanced negotiations to join Real Sociedad after release by Chelsea
Published: July 25, 2023
Norway U21 international of Nigerian descent Bryan Fiabema is set to end his search for a new club less than a month after he was released by Chelsea following the expiry of his contract with the Premier League side.
As first reported by Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano and confirmed by allnigeriasoccer.com, Fiabema is in the advanced staged of negotiations to join Real Sociedad on a free transfer.
After his release by Chelsea, the striker's priority was to join any top team outside England.
Fiabema was on the radar of two-time Polish champions Śląsk Wrocław and a few teams in the English Football League, but Real Sociedad are nailed-on favorites for his signature and a deal is close to being finalized.
Former Tromsø IL wonderkid Fiabema was once the youngest player of Nigerian descent to feature in the Norwegian Eliteserien until the record was broken by Antonio Nusa on May 30, 2021.
The 20-year-old departed Chelsea without making his senior debut and took in loan spells at Rosenborg and Forest Green Rovers, making 28 appearances combined for both clubs and registered nine goal involvements.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Fiabema will link up with Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq at Real Sociedad.
