'He's one to watch' - Pundit reveals Tottenham Hotspur LB Udogie is tailor-made for the PL
Published: August 23, 2023
Football pundit Scott Brown has described Italian-born left-back of Nigeria descent Destiny Udogie as an ideal fit for the Premier League having impressed in his first two games of the season for Tottenham Hotspur.
The 20-year-old had to wait for a year to make his Premier League debut for Tottenham as he spent last season on loan with Udinese in the Serie A.
The Italian-Nigerian defender has been preferred by Ange Postecoglou over the more experienced Ben Davies and Ivan Perisic as the first-choice left-back.
Udogie faced his toughest test yet in the Premier League last weekend when he came up against Manchester United forward Antony and played a part in keeping the Brazilian quiet before he was replaced by Ben Davies in the encounter.
Brown has been amazed by the performance of Italy youth international and believes he will have a good season.
"Yeah, he looks like he's got something about him. I think he seems tailor-made for the Premier League," he told GIVEMESPORT.
"He looks like he can cope and seems to be thriving at the club and has settled fine.
"I think he could be in for a big season and probably might surprise a few people who may not have been excited or impressed by his signing.
"So, I think he's the genuine article and I think he's one to watch."
Udogie is expected to be involved when the north London side travel to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday to face Bournemouth.
