Bayer Leverkusen agree N19.4b fee with Southampton for Hale End product Tella
Published: August 25, 2023
Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a deal with Southampton for the services of Arsenal's Hale End academy product Nathan Tella.
According to The Athletic (subscription required), the agreement will see the Bundesliga side pay 20 million pounds (approximately N19.4 billion) to the Saints with the latter also having a right to benefit from his future sales
Tella has agreed personal terms with the German outfit and is expected to have his medical tomorrow before signing a 5-year contract.
Burnley were also in pursuit of the Super Eagles eligible forward having impressed on loan with them last season but were priced out of a move while West Ham United and Rennes were also linked with him.
The former Arsenal youth teamer had a breakout season in the Championship last campaign registering 22 goal contributions and Bayern Leverkusen are hoping he can replicate the same in the Bundesliga.
Xabi Alonso's side want the Anglo-Nigerian forward to replace the departed Moussa Diaby who played a vital role in their campaign last season.
They began their Bundesliga campaign with a slim victory over RB Leipzig last season and face Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend.
