Official: Saviour Godwin joins Ighalo, Onyekuru, Nwakaeme in Saudi Pro League
Published: September 07, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Portuguese Primeira Liga side Casa Pia have confirmed that one-cap Nigeria international Saviour Godwin has departed the club for the Saudi Pro League.
Casa Pia revealed that the 2013 U17 World Cup winner has joined Al-Okhdood without disclosing the length of contract.
Godwin was an influential player in Casa Pia's promotion to the top flight of Portuguese football and has departed the club with 102 appearances under his belt in all competitions, scoring 24 goals while producing fourteen assists.
In the current season, he has played in four matches in the Primeira Liga with one goal contribution.
Godwin is Al-Okhdood's seventh foreign signing after Cameroonian forward Léandre Tawamba, Spaniard Álex Collado, Colombian Sebastián Pedroza, Brazilian Paulo Vitor, Georgian Solomon Kvirkvelia, and Romanian Andrei Burcă.
The 27-year-old joins Odion Ighalo (Al-Wehda), Henry Onyekuru (Al-Fayha) and Anthony Nwakaeme (Al-Fayha) in the Saudi Pro League for the 2023-2024 season.
He began his football career with FC Sports Jos and from there he transferred to KV Oostende and Roeselare, and then moved to Casa Pia in 2020.
Godwin had one year left on his contract with Casa Pia and has embarked on a new chapter in his career that will allow him to become financially independent.
