Salah v Udogie: PL pundit highlights one of the key battles that could decide Tottenham v Liverpool
Published: September 29, 2023
Premier League pundit Alex Keble has highlighted the face off between Destiny Udogie and Mohamed Salah as one of the key battles that could determine the result between Liverpool and Tottenham
Both sides are set to meet on match day 7 of the Premier League on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Udogie is expected to start at left-back for Spurs, which will set him up against Salah, who should start for the Reds from the right wing.
The Italy U21 international of Nigerian descent faced Arsenal's Bukayo Saka last weekend and did fairly well but will be hoping to do better this weekend when he faces the Egyptian.
Keble has provided the details on what to expect when the Spurs' defender faces his Liverpool counterpart on Saturday.
"One of the most significant head-to-heads at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday is between Mohamed Salah, who has scored or assisted in each of his last 12 Premier League matches, and Destiny Udogie," Keble told the Premier League's official website.
"Udogie was repeatedly targeted by Arsenal's Bukayo Saka last weekend, who occasionally took advantage of his difficulty shifting back from his inverted central midfield position – including for their opening goal.
"Salah, who could be supported by the returning Trent Alexander-Arnold, will be sought with longer forward balls as Liverpool look to take advantage of Spurs' tendency to be too open just after they lose possession. That is the price of Ange Postecoglou’s expansive football."
The 20-year-old is yet to taste a defeat as a Tottenham player in the Premier League this season and will be hoping to continue that run against the Anfield outfit.
Udogie has featured in all games involving Ange Postecoglou's side this term in the Premier League and has recorded 2 assists.
