Confirmed team news: Nigerian central defender ruled out of Fulham v Chelsea
Published: September 29, 2023
Speaking at the pre-match press conference before his side's Premier League meeting with Chelsea, Fulham boss Marco Silva confirmed that Manchester-born Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo will play no part in Monday's game at Craven Cottage.
Tosin saw a deadline day move to French Ligue 1 outfit Monaco fall through because the Cottagers could not sign a replacement at short notice.
Since his failed move to the Principality club, Tosin has not figured for Fulham, missing back-to-back games with Manchester City, Luton Town and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and Norwich City in the League Cup.
Tosin has received just one call up this season, against Arsenal, where he came off the bench to shore up the defence after Calvin Bassey was sent off for a second bookable offense.
The 26-year-old had been battling with a groin injury and underwent surgery this month to fix the problem.
Providing an injury update on his squad, Silva told reporters: "From the last game what I can say is that Tosin is still out as Adama Traore.
"Kenny Tete we will keep assessing him to see how he's going before taking a decision. Sasa is going to be involved in the squad list".
The timescale on Tosin's return to action was seven weeks, as from September 15, 2023.
