Confirmed team news: Chelsea midfielder Chukwuemeka returns to full training ahead of Fulham derby
Published: September 29, 2023
Chelsea have received an injury boost ahead of their Premier League encounter against Fulham on Monday at the Craven Cottage.
According to a statement on the club's official website, Chelsea have confirmed that Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has returned to full team training.
Chukwuemeka picked up a knee injury in their 3-1 loss to West Ham on matchday two of the Premier League and netted Chelsea's only goal - his first senior goal.
It was his strike against the Hammers that won Chelsea's Goal of the Month for August, beating four other nominees to the award.
Chukwuemeka's return to training will be a big boost for Mauricio Pochettino who has been without a natural "10" since his injury, with Christopher Nkunku, the other player capable of playing in that position, still receiving treatment for a knee injury he picked up before the start of the season.
Chelsea are without a win in the Premier League since beating Luton Town on matchday three and will be looking to return to winning ways against Fulham on Monday night.
The Blues are fourteenth in the standings with five points from six games heading into the next round of fixtures.
