Ndidi's brilliant strike against Southampton up for Leicester City's Goal of the Month
Published: October 04, 2023
Wilfred Ndidi's brilliant strike against Southampton is among eight efforts in the running for Leicester City's Goal of the Month award for September 2023.
Leicester City have compiled a shortlist of goals scored by the first team and development squad with the Nigeria international in contention for the monthly accolade.
Ndidi scored his first-ever Championship goal as the Foxes registered an impressive 4-1 road win over the Saints on September 15.
The Super Eagles star got his goal in the third additional minute of the first half when he received a pass from Stephy Mavididi and dribbled past his marker before putting the ball beyond the reach of Gavin Bazunu, the Southampton goalkeeper.
Five of the eight goals nominated come from Leicester City's first team, including efforts from Ndidi, Mavididi, Kasey McAteer, who has been double nominated, and Jamie Vardy.
Completing the shortlist are U21 stars Arjan Raikhy, Wanya Marçal and Tawanda Maswanhise.
Ndidi and international teammate Kelechi Iheanacho were nominated for Leicester City's Goal of the Month award for August 2023 but missed out on the award to Kasey McAteer.
Ndidi's change of position from a number 6 to number 8 has seen him involved in five goals (3 goals, 2 assists) from 11 all-competition appearances in 2023-2024.
