Published: October 05, 2023
Super Eagles eligible forward Nathan Tella has opening his goalscoring account for German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen after his summer transfer from Championship outfit Southampton.
Tella was on target for Bayer Leverkusen in their 2-1 win over Molde on matchday two of the UEFA Europa League played at the Aker Stadion on Thursday night.
In his second consecutive start in this season's Europa League, the Hale End Academy product was deployed as a left winger.
Jeremie Frimpong put Bayer Leverkusen ahead in the 14th minute, striking the ball into the bottom right corner from Amine Adli's pass.
Four minutes later, Tella doubled the German outfit's lead as he collected a pass from Adam Hložek before burying the ball inside the net.
Emil Breivik pulled one back for Molde three minutes before stoppage time with a powerful shot.
Before he was replaced in the 70th minute by Jonas Hofmann, Tella had 33 touches, two key passes, created one big chance and also contributed defensively winning two of his five ground duels and one of his two aerial duels
Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface also made a second-half appearance in the encounter for the Alonso-led side.
