N24.6b-rated Nottingham Forest striker Awoniyi becomes most valuable Nigerian-born player in the PL

Football statistics and transfer website, Transfermarkt has updated the market values of players in England, with two Nigeria internationals receiving upgrades.
Nottingham Forest duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina have seen their valuations increase.
Awoniyi is the most valuable Nigerian-born player in England with a market value of 30 million euros (approximately N24.6 billion in Nigerian currency), ranking first ahead of Iwobi who is rated at 28 million euros and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi at 25 million euros.
Awoniyi was valued at €25 million in June 2023 but has seen his stock rise following a fine start to te 2023-2024 season that has seen him contribute five goals (3 goals, 2 assists) in seven Premier League games.
The 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winner is the second most valuable Nigerian-born player worldwide, behind Napoli striker Victor Osimhen (€120m), and ranks third among Nottingham Forest players.
Awoniyi's teammate Aina got another 1.5 million euros added to his value and is now rated at 5 million euros.
The striker was named Nottingham Forest's Player of the Month for August while the right-back scooped the prize for September.
Aina and Awoniyi have pulled out of the Nigeria squad for their October internationals against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique due to injuries.
