Video: Saudi Arabia coach Roberto Mancini rolls back the years with silky skills ahead of Nigeria friendly
Published: October 11, 2023
In a video uploaded on X by the official account of Saudi Arabia national teams, Green Falcons coach Roberto Mancini demonstrated his skills in front of his players in one of their most recent training sessions in Portugal before the friendly against the Super Eagles.
The Saudi Arabia national team are holding a training camp in the Portuguese city of Lagos before Friday's clash with the Super Eagles.
Mancini, 58, resigned from his position as coach of Italy's national team in August before he was appointed as head coach of the Saudi Arabian national team.
During his playing days, the striker netted 204 career goals which included spells at Sampdoria, Lazio, Bologna and Leicester City.
Mancini was Serie A champion with both Sampdoria and Lazio, won the Coppa Italia during his time with both clubs, was also a European Cup Winners Cup winner and was in the Italy side that finished third at the 1990 World Cup.
He was in the dugout as Italy won the 2020 European Championship but missed out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after the four-time world champions were beaten by North Macedonia.
In the video shared by the Saudi Arabia national team, Mancini appeared to be dribbling one of the Saudi national team players in training in the manner of the Brazilian magician and former Barcelona star Ronaldinho, as if the veteran Italian coach was a young man in the prime of his football career.
