Published: October 12, 2023
Talented England U17 international of Nigerian descent, Ethan Nwaneri has missed out on Arsenal's Goal of the Month award for September 2023.
The Gunners informed through their official website today that Declan Rice's dramatic late strike against Manchester United has scooped the club's Goal of the Month award for September.
The former West Ham United captain scored his first goal in Arsenal colours in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time when he swiveled and swung his right foot at the ball and saw it clip the foot of Jonny Evans and deceive Andre Onana between the Manchester United posts.
Of the six goals nominated for the monthly accolade, Nwaneri's effort did not make the top two, with Alessia Russo amassing 31 percent of the votes to place second.
The English-Nigerian attacking midfielder was nominated for his brilliant strike against Reading in the Premier League 2.
Other contenders for Arsenal's September Goal of the Month included Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.
Since the start of last season, Nwaneri has missed out on Arsenal Goal of the Month awards for November and December 2022, February, April , August and September this year.
