'I watch them a lot' - Chelsea winger Madueke eager to learn from Liverpool and PSG stars
Published: October 14, 2023
Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has revealed that he has been made to watch Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappe and would like to emulate the duo.
The Liverpool maestro and Paris St Germain star are two of the best forwards in Europe at the moment with their nominations for the Ballon d'Or a testament to that.
Madueke's talent is not in doubt as that earned him a move to Chelsea but he is yet to take his game to the next level and that is why he is finding it difficult to get game time this season.
The 21-year-old has just two goals for the Blues since he joined last January and he will have to improve as soon as possible to break into the starting XI.
The England U21 international of Nigerian descent has revealed that he has been watching Salah and Mbappe closely so as to improve his game.
"I look at the best. James Ryder, our analyst, clipped up Mbappe and Salah, so I watch them a lot," Madueke was quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
"The way they always follow their pass into the box, or when a team-mate is in the box, they're always there to anticipate."
He added : "One thing I’ve got to add to my game is the easier goals, the one-touch goals - that’s what I’m trying to improve.
"I know I go at such a pace so sometimes I’ve got to calm down at the last moment, take a breath and then slot it away. I’ve just got to keep working so I can do it when I get back to Chelsea."
Madueke has made just four appearances for Chelsea since the start of the campaign but is yet to start a Premier League game.
