Chelsea midfielder Chukwuemeka rated touch-and-go for visit of Arsenal
Published: October 18, 2023
Chelsea's medical team are assessing the fitness of Carney Chukwuemeka ahead of the Blues' encounter with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on matchday 9 of the Premier League on Saturday.
According to Evening Standard, the Anglo-Nigerian midfielder is said to have felt some pain in his knee upon returning to full training sessions and the medical staff are assessing how to handle the situation.
Chukwuemeka had returned to full training sessions for some time but is yet to feature in any game for Mauricio Pochettino's side.
The last time he played a Premier League was in the Blues' loss to West Ham on matchday 2 and must be hoping that he gets back to action as soon as possible.
Besides the former Aston Villa midfielder's fitness, Chelsea are also sweating on the fitness of Reece James who has been reported to have suffered an injury setback while Armando Broja who made his return to action before the international break is also doubtful for the Arsenal encounter.
The Stamford Bridge outfit are seeking to get their season back on track after a slow start and will need all hands on deck against Mikel Arteta's side.
They sit in 11th position on the Premier League table at the moment with 11 points, six points adrift of 4th placed Liverpool and nine points behind Tottenham who sit on top of the log at the moment.
