Flying Eagles-eligible attacking midfielder trains with Man Utd first team pre-Sheffield United
Published: October 19, 2023
Flying Eagles-eligible attacking midfielder Shola Shoretire was invited to train with Manchester United's first team ahead of their Premier League meeting with Sheffield United on Saturday, alnigeriasoccer.com reports.
United have started preparations for the trip to Bramall Lane and the players, under the guidance of manager Erik ten Hag, trained at Carrington on Thursday with Shoretire part of the group.
Shoretire has struggled for playing opportunities since Ten Hag took over the managerial reins at Manchester United last summer as he has yet to play a single game under the Dutch football tactician though he has received three first team call ups
The academy product left Old Trafford on a temporary basis in search of first team football with Bolton Wanderers his destination, where he made sixteen appearances and scored his first goal as a professional in the second half of last season.
He was open to leaving United on another loan spell in the summer transfer window but the right opportunity did not present itself before the window closed.
Shoretire continues to shine for Manchester United's development squad, whom he has captained on several occasions this season, scoring three goals and registering three assists in seven outings across all competitions.
The 19-year-old was named Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year for the 2020-2021 season.
