'Not true' - Transfer guru Romano clarifies Chelsea target Osimhen has not agreed a deal with Liverpool
Published: October 22, 2023
Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has dismissed reports claiming that Victor Osimhen has agreed personal terms with Premier League giants Liverpool.
It was sensationally claimed that Liverpool had stolen a march on their Premier League rivals in the race for the signature of Osimhen after striking an accord with the Napoli striker, but the reports emanating from the Italian media have been rubbished by Romano.
Osimhen's future at Napoli is up in the air, with the Super Eagles star undecided on signing a new deal after Napoli put up a video on their TikTok account mocking him for missing a penalty against Bologna.
Napoli made a very important proposal to Osimhen in terms of remuneration, offering him the biggest wages in the club's history.
Manchester United had been linked with the Nigeria international but the Old Trafford side are now covered in the center forward position with the capture of Atalanta's Rasmus Højlund in the summer transfer window.
Romano reiterated that Chelsea remain interested in Osimhen and made it clear that the Napoli forward has not agreed terms with any club.
Speaking on his YouTube page, Romano stated: "Chelsea are keeping an eye on Victor Osimhen. In Italy some media is reporting that Victor Osimhen already agreed contract terms with Liverpool.
"From what I'm told, at the moment, Victor Osimhen has not agreed anything with any club, not even with Napoli, there is no agreement on the contract extension.
"He has not agreed anything with any club so Osimhen will take his time. Reports of an agreement already done with Liverpool are not true.
"Liverpool as many other clubs are keeping an eye on the situation of many strikers around Europe."
Osimhen is currently sidelined by a hamstring injury he suffered on international duty with the Super Eagles and experts have suggested that he could be out of action for at least one month.
