Confirmed team news: Nigerian defender ruled out of Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham
Published: October 23, 2023
Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Manchester-born Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo will not be making his return from injury in Monday's Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hostpur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Manchester City academy product has not figured for the Cottagers after seeing a move to French Ligue 1 outfit Monaco fall through on deadline day.
Tosin has been battling with a groin injury and underwent surgery in September to fix the problem.
This season, the 26-year-old has logged just one minute in all competitions and it came in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on August 26.
Since then, he has been unavailable for selection in back-to-back matches against Manchester City, Luton Town, Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Sheffield United in the Premier League, and Norwich City in the League Cup.
Providing a squad update in his pre-match press conference, Silva was quoted as saying by Fulham's official webpage: "Adama, Kenny Tete and Tosin are still out, plus Issa Diop".
Meanwhile Tosin's teammates Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey returned from international duty unscathed, which puts both in contention to be named in the matchday squad against Tottenham.
Italian-Nigerian defender Destiny Udogie is also in good shape and should make his ninth Premier League appearance in the London derby.
