Published: October 23, 2023
Football statistics website Whoscored.com has revealed the top ten players with the most ground duels won in the 2023-2024 Premier League, with three Tottenham Hotspur players making the cut.
The three Tottenham Hotspur representatives are Super Eagles-eligible fullback Destiny Udogie, Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma and the club's number 10 James Maddison.
While Udogie is tenth on the list with 44 ground duels won across eight matches, Bissouma has racked up 57 ground duels to place second and Maddison is joint-fifth with 46 ground duels won.
The Italian-Nigerian young star has won the most ground duels in the Premier League when it comes to defenders.
Crystal Palace's Jordan Ayew leads the way with 61 ground duels won and completing the top five are West Ham's Lucas Paqueta (54), Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze (52) and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka (46).
Udogie has proved to be irreplaceable in the Tottenham Hotspur squad, with manager Ange Postecoglou naming him in the starting lineup in all the eight matches contested by the club in this season's Premier League.
The 20-year-old played a combined 74 minutes for Italy in 2024 European Championship qualifying matches during the international break.
