Talented Nigeria-eligible forward agrees new long-term deal with Everton
Published: October 31, 2023
Promising Nigeria-eligible center forward Francis Okoronkwo has reportedly committed his future to Everton by agreeing a new long-term contract.
According to Football Insider, Everton have agreed a deal for Okoronkwo following a breakthrough in talks.
Big things are expected of the Anglo-Nigerian striker in the coming years and the Toffees have moved to tie him down to a new deal with the current agreement between club and player running out on June 30, 2024.
Okoronkwo joined Everton from Sunderland in September 2021 in exchange for a fee of one million pounds.
Born in Blyth, Northumberland, Okoronkwo has been described as a skillful attacker who possesses impressive speed, movement and balance, and is comfortable operating in all positions across the frontline.
The 19-year-old registered six goal involvements in 26 outings in the Premier League 2 over the course of the 2022-2023 season, logging 1,773 minutes, and also featured for the Toffees in the FA Youth Cup, EFL Trophy, U18 Premier League, Premier League Cup and Premier League International Cup.
He was named in Everton's traveling squad for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland, where he trained with Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi ahead of the 2023-2024 campaign.
Okoronkwo was called up to the England U20 squad for their friendlies against Romania and Portugal in October.
