Brentford-linked striker Iheanacho nominated for Leicester City Goal of the Month
Published: November 06, 2023
The future of Kelechi Iheanacho at Leicester City is yet to be resolved - putting a number of Premier League clubs on alert.
The 2013 Fifa U17 Golden Ball winner will enter the last six months of his contract at Leicester City in January 2024 and the Foxes have a fight on their hands to keep hold of the striker when the transfer window reopens.
According to TEAMtalk, Brentford are one of teams showing interest in Iheanacho and there is also interest from Londoners West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
There's every chance that the Bees will be in the market for a striker in the January transfer window, with reports suggesting that Ivan Toney could depart the club.
Iheanacho is being considered as a potential replacement for the England star whose situation is being monitored by Arsenal and Chelsea.
Leicester City have made no headway during initial talks to extend the contract of Iheanacho and are at risk of losing him for free at the end of the current season.
The Nigerian was in brilliant form last month, notching in five consecutive games combined for club and country.
Iheanacho's strike in a 3-0 rout of Preston North on October 4 is one of eight goals in the running for Leicester City's Goal of the Month for October 2023.
The Super Eagles star put his name on the scoresheet fourteen minutes from time when he tapped home a cross from his international teammate Wilfred Ndidi.
The other nominees for Leicester City's Goal of the Month are Jamie Vardy and Aimee Palmer who have been double nominated, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Abdul Fatawu and Harry Winks.
