'You know that when you come to Rangers' - Dessers not worried about competition for places in attack
Published: November 13, 2023
Cyriel Dessers has insisted that he is not worried about the competition for places in attack in the Rangers squad.
The Nigeria international faces a fight with the likes of Danilo, Sam Lammers, Kemar Roofe and Abdallah Sima in order to get into the starting lineup of the Light Blues.
A summer signing from Cremonese, Dessers has managed fifteen starts from a possible twenty-three in all competitions since his arrival at Ibrox, which is not a bad figure considering the competition for places in attack.
Dessers is enjoying a new lease of life under new Rangers boss Philippe Clement, having netted three goals in four Scottish Premiership games since the Belgian took over the managerial position.
In his last outing before the international break, the 28-year-old scored to help Rangers secure a 2-0 victory over Livingston.
And speaking after the game on competition up front, Dessers told BBC Scotland: "You know that when you come to Rangers. I think that is only good and I don’t want to look at my situation or anybody else’s situation.
"It’s good for the team if all the strikers are in a good shape and score goals. Then whoever plays needs to do the job. That is good as well."
So far this season, Dessers has totaled 1,228 minutes in all competitions and has nine goal involvements to his name in 22 games.
