Pundit reveals Osimhen would favour a move to Chelsea over Tottenham and Arsenal
Published: November 21, 2023
Respected pundit Nizaar Kinsella has explained why he believes Victor Osimhen would favour a move to Chelsea over Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Chelsea are admirers of the Napoli ace and tried pursuing a deal for him in the summer but had to withdraw their interest due to the huge transfer fee placed on him.
Manchester United were also linked with the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner in the summer but are unlikely to reignite their interest in the Napoli number 9 at the end of the season.
The Blues signed Senegal international Nicolas Jackson who has 6 Premier League goals this season while Manchester United acquired the signature of Rasmus Højlund who is still waiting for his first goal in the English top-tier division.
Speaking to London Is Blue Podcast via The Boot Room, Kinsella has disclosed why he believes Osimhen could join Chelsea instead of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
"It's a bad market for strikers in January, and Osimhen is the striker that everyone wants. There's no point in getting another young one now," Kinsella said.
"He'd be a great fit, and Chelsea like him. Osimhen likes Chelsea, I had the information for a little while.
"He's always loved Chelsea, loved Drogba. They've got some similarities. He'd be interested in Manchester United, but they're not going to sign a striker.
"It’s basically Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs competing in the battleground and Osimhen would probably pick Chelsea out of three."
The 24-year-old Osimhen is still locked in talks with Napoli regarding his contract extension and will have one year left on his contract by next summer which could affect his asking price.
