Speaking at Friday's pre-match press conference to preview his side's Premier League clash against Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou provided a fitness update on Super Eagles-eligible defender Destiny Udogie.
Udogie would have been in contention to become cap-tied to his country of birth, Italy this month but he was not called up for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers double header against North Macedonia and Ukraine.
In justifying his decision not to include Udogie on the roster, Italy boss Luciano Spalletti revealed that it wasn't a technical decision, adding that the left-back was recovering from injury.
Udogie made good progress in his recovery during the international break, with Ange Postecoglou giving him a clean bill of health to take to the pitch against Aston Villa on Sunday, November 26.
A muscle injury kept him out of the victory at Crystal Palace and he was not available for selection against Wolverhampton Wanderers due to a suspension following his sending off early in the second half versus Chelsea.
In quotes relayed by the Guardian UK, Postecoglou stated: "Destiny is fine and is available. He’s had a good couple of weeks">
Udogie, after spending last season on loan at Udinese, has had a good start to his Tottenham Hotspur career with two assists in ten appearances in the Premier League.
