On-loan Gunner Okonkwo keeps sixth clean sheet of the season in Wrexham's 6-0 win against Morecambe
Published: November 25, 2023
Arsenal-owned goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo kept a clean sheet for Wrexham in their 6-0 mauling of Morecambe in an English League Two fixture played at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.
The home side raced into the lead as early as the 5th minute when Joel Senior turned the ball into his own net.
Two minutes later, Paul Mullin gave Wrexham a two-goal cushion with a simple finish from Andy Cannon's cross.
Jacob Mendy got the third of the afternoon in the 35th minute when he weaved through two Moracembe defenders before striking the ball into the net.
Mullin struck again in the 67th minute through a half volley from the edge of the 18-yard box to compound more miseries on the away side and got the fifth ten minutes later to register a hat trick in the encounter.
James Jones wrapped up the scoring in the sixth minute of the additional time with a superb finish.
Okonkwo made two notable saves in the game, denying Adam Mayor from scoring in the 32nd minute and also making a save in the 54th minute to prevent Kelvin MelLeagueom from reducing the deficit.
The result meant he has now kept 5 clean sheets in League two this season and six in all competitions for the Red Dragons, three of which have been registered in the last four games.
