Udogie features in six-goal thriller between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur
Published: December 03, 2023Honours were even in a drama-filled game between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.
Italy international of Nigerian descent, Destiny Udogie slotted in at left-back in what was his 12th start from a possible fourteen in the Premier League.
South Korean striker Son Heung-min gave Tottenham a dream start with the opening goal of the contest in the sixth minute when he nodded the ball past Jeremy Doku and shot past goalkeeper Ederson.
But the lead lasted only three minutes as Son Heung-min put the ball into his own net to restore parity for Pep Guardiola's side.
Phil Forden slotted into the bottom corner to give the Citizens the lead for the first time in the game after he was picked out by Julian Alvarez in the 31st minute.
Udogie was booked seven minutes before halftime for clattering Foden from behind, but lasted the entire duration of the game despite walking a disciplinary tightrope.
Giovani lo Celso took advantage of some sloppy Manchester City passing and curled the ball in from 20 yards out to equalize for Ange Postecoglou's side at minute 69.
Jack Grealish and Manchester City thought they had won it when the England midfielder swept in a cutback from Erling Haaland in the 81st minute but Spurs had other ideas as Dejan Kulusevski headed in an equalizer on 90 minutes.
Manchester City are up to 30 points but are in third in the Premier League standings, three off pacesetters Arsenal and one behind Liverpool , while Tottenham nudged their way into the top five above Newcastle United.
