Close to a ban: Tottenham Hotspur left-back Udogie at the risk of being suspended by Premier League
Published: December 05, 2023Tottenham left-back of Nigeria descent Destiny Udogie is at risk of being handed a Premier League one-match suspension for card accumulation.
The 21-year-old has received 4 yellow cards so far, which means one more caution for him will attract a suspension under the rules.
The Premier League rules state that any player who receives 5 yellow cards in the first 19 games of the season will be handed a one-match ban.
With 14 games played already, Udogie will have to avoid being cautioned in the next five games to avoid the said punishment.
The Italian-born defender had earlier served a one-match suspension for the red card received in Tottenham's loss to Chelsea on matchday 11.
He started the season brilliantly but the tracks seem to have come off the rail for him in recent weeks particularly since he recovered from a muscle injury last month.
While he has kept his place in the team, he hasn't been able to maintain the standard that fetched a lot of praise at the start of the season.
He has played in 12 games in the Premier League this season, all of which he has started.
