Confirmed team news: Three Super Eagles-eligible players ruled out of Manchester United v Chelsea
Published: December 06, 2023
Through their official website, Chelsea have revealed that Noni Madueke and Lesley Ugochukwu will miss the club's Premier League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford tomorrow night.
The report stated that the Super Eagles-eligible duo have started their rehabilitation program in a bid to recover from their injuries.
They join fellow Nigerian Carney Chukwuemeka, Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Trevor Chalobah, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku on the long list of players that will miss the Blues' clash with the Red Devils.
On the nature of their injuries, Mauricio Pochettino during his pre-match conference on Tuesday disclosed that Ugochukwu picked up a minor injury last week while Madueke also has a minor problem.
"Lesley felt something last week, it's a minor injury. Noni, after Sunday against Brighton, also has a minor problem," Pochettino told Chelsea's official website
"We hope that soon they will be available to train and available for the team."
It has been a tough start to the season for Madueke as he has started just one Premier League game and made not more than 6 appearances since the start of the competition in August.
As a result, the 21-year-old is said to be considering leaving Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens next month.
Ugochukwu on the other hand has had 2 starts in the Premier League and has made nine appearances in total this season.
