Official: Super Eagles-eligible fullback signs new six-and-a-half-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur
Published: December 12, 2023With a statement on their official website, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Super Eagles-eligible fullback Destiny Udogie has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term deal.
The Italy international of Nigerian descent has put pen to paper on a six-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until June 30, 2030.
It has been an eventful week for Udogie, who scored his first goal in Tottenham colours in a 4-1 rout of Newcastle United on Sunday - a tap in from Heung-min Son's cross.
Tottenham have showed their faith in the young left-back by extending his contract four months after he started his adventure in north London, having spent the entirety of last season on loan at Udinese.
The Italian-Nigerian was installed as first choice left-back after impressing manager Ange Postecoglou during pre-season preparations, and has gone on to make fourteen appearances in the Premier League, all of which he started.
The only matches he missed - against Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers - were due to injury and suspension.
On the international stage, he played in two games for his country of birth, Italy in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers and would have become cap-tied to the four-time world champions if he had been invited for the November internationals.
Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan were interested in signing Udogie before his move to Tottenham but were priced out of a deal.
