Tottenham plan to sign new central defender in January amid links with Tosin
Published: December 14, 2023
Speaking at Thursday's pre-match press conference to preview his side's Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed that his side need to sign a new central defender in the January transfer window to provide cover for his injured center backs.
Micky van de Ven suffered a significant injury that would keep him out of action until the new year and joining him in the treatment room are Eric Dier and Ashley Phillips.
Predominantly a left-back, versatile Wales international Ben Davies has filled in at center back in the last five games played by Tottenham in the Premier League.
Football. London claimed last week that the Lilywhites have continued to show interest ahead of January in Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo, with the 26-year-old having just returned in recent weeks from groin surgery.
Spurs have also been linked with Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite and Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi.
Tosin will enter the last six months of his contract at Fulham in January and the Cottagers may be forced to sell him if he does not sign a new deal and the right offer comes.
The Super Eagles-eligible player attracted interest from Tottenham in the summer transfer window but he favored joining Monaco where he was likely to get more playing opportunities.
Tosin has helped Fulham to post two clean sheets in their last two Premier League games and scored his first goal in over a year in a 5-0 win over West Ham United last weekend.
