Madueke returns to full training pre-Newcastle United; update on Ugochukwu, Chukwuemeka

Chelsea, through their official website, have provided an injury update on their squad ahead of the Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues brought good news on the fitness of England U21 international of Nigerian descent Noni Madueke who has not received a call-up since the visit of Brighton & Hove on December 3.

Madueke has returned to full training and it remains to be seen if he's named in the matchday squad versus the Magpies.

There has been speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge ahead of the reopening of the transfer window due to a lack of first team opportunities since his transfer from PSV Eindhoven in January.

Madueke helped Chelsea reach the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup, having featured in wins against AFC Wimbledon and Blackburn Rovers.

Lesley Ugochukwu, nephew of retired Nigeria international defender Onyekachi Apam, is not yet off the injury list, with Chelsea informing that the defensive midfielder is progressing with the reconditioning phase of his rehabilitation.

An ever-present in Mauricio Pochettino's matchday squad before his spell on the sidelines,  the 19-year-old has missed Chelsea's last four games in the Premier League due to a muscle tear injury.

Meanwhile, Carney Chukwuemeka is continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme and is not available for selection against Newcastle United.
