Two Nigeria-eligible young stars return to full training at Chelsea ahead of trip to Wolves
Published: December 22, 2023
Through their official website, Chelsea have provided a detailed injury update ahead of their Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium.
The Blues have informed that two Nigeria-eligible young stars Lesley Ugochukwu and Noni Madueke have returned to full training after shaking off their injury problems.
France U21 international Ugochukwu and Young Lions winger Madueke have not figured for Chelsea since the start of December due to fitness issues, missing five games in total.
Ugochukwu was recovering from a muscle tear injury and Madueke from an unknown ailment.
The French-Nigerian was one of the first names on manager Mauricio Pochettino's team sheet, having been included in every matchday squad announced by the Argentine football tactician - sixteen in total - before his spell on the sidelines.
Injuries have derailed Pochettino's plans since the start of the season with several players still in the treatment room, meaning he has yet to play his ideal starting lineup since taking over the managerial reigns.
Chelsea's marquee signing of the summer window, Christopher Nkunku only made his debut on Tuesday against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup after recovering from a long-term knee injury.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have not offered an encouraging update on Carney Chuwkuemeka who is 'continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme'.
