Nwaneri travelled with Arsenal's first team to Liverpool but excluded from matchday squad

England U17 international of Nigerian descent Ethan Nwaneri travelled with Arsenal's first team to Merseyside for their Premier League meeting with Liverpool on Saturday.
The exciting midfielder, a first-year scholar, has trained with the Arsenal first team on multiple occasions since the start of December.
According to Arsenal youth team guru Jeorge Bird,Nwaneri travelled with the Arsenal first-team squad to Liverpool along with Italy star Jorginho and Africa Cup of Nations-bound Mohamed Elneny.
While the Egypt midfielder and 2020 European champion with Italy shook off their fitness concerns to be named in Arsenal's matchday squad versus Liverpool, Nwaneri was excluded.
The Anglo-Nigerian attacking midfielder would have been considered for the matchday squad if any of the outfield players sustained an injury in the pre-match warm-up.
Nwaneri has not received a call-up for a Premier League game since September 2022 at Brentford, where he became the youngest player in history to play a game in the top-flight of English football at the age of 15 years and 181 days.
The Gunners will be topping the Premier League table at Christmas after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Jurgen Klopp's side at Anfield.
The north London club led through Gabriel's fourth minute header but Mohamed Salah restored parity as the game edged towards the half-hour mark to moved to tenth on the all-time top scorers in the Premier League.
