Search for a centre forward: Manchester United interested in Super Eagles-eligible player
Published: December 24, 2023
Manchester United are considering a move for Super Eagles-eligible striker Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the winter transfer window.
As reported by Sport1 via Teamtalk, the English giants are aware of the difficulty of bringing a top-class forward in January and have identified the Bologna forward as a potential target who could come in as a low-profile signing.
The 20-time English champions bought Rasmus Højlund in the summer to solve their goal-scoring woes but the Danish forward is yet to score a goal in the Premier League after making 14 appearances, thus the reason behind their search for a new striker.
After struggling in his first season in the Serie A, Zirkzee has finally found his feet and has helped put Bologna in contention to finish in European places as they are placed 4th in the table at the moment.
With 8 goals across all competitions to his credit this season, the Netherlands-born forward is attracting the interest of European heavyweights already, one of which is Manchester United and he is also being eyed by Newcastle and AC Milan as previously reported.
The former Bayern Munich forward might be attracted by the prospect of playing for the Red Devils, not only because of the pedigree of the club but the opportunity to work with fellow countryman, Erik ten Hag.
