'He's been a top player' - Ex-West Ham winger hails Tottenham LB Udogie for his performance today
Published: December 31, 2023
Speaking on a live broadcast during Tottenham's 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, former West Ham winger Matt Jarvis was full of praises for Super Eagles-eligible left-back Destiny Udogie for his performance in the fixture.
The talented left-back lasted for the entire duration of the game as Spurs ensured they finished the year on a winning note.
For 70 minutes, Ange Postecoglou's side had just a one-goal cushion over the Cherries and Udogie put up an excellent defensive shift to ensure the visitors didn't restore parity before Spurs got their second of the game.
The 21-year-old made 2 clearances, 2 tackles, 1 last-man tackle, and 1 block, won all his ground duels, and wasn't dribbled past throughout the entire duration.
Jarvis while on commentary duties praised the Italian-Nigerian defender for his performance in the encounter.
"Yeah, once again, great defending by Udogie. He's kept this Spurs side in this a number of times, using his power and his pace to get back into the correct position and helping out a teammate. He's been a top player for them today," he told BBC Radio Five Live via TBR.
He has now made 17 appearances in the Premier League, all of which he has started, and has three goal involvements.
With today's victory over Bournemouth, Tottenham have now garnered 39 points, one less than Arsenal who sit fourth the Premier League table.
