Chelsea loan out African player capable of playing in midfield and attack; deal subject to medical
Published: January 03, 2024
Premier League giants Chelsea are on the verge of confirming the temporary transfer of England youth international of African descent, Alex Matos.
According to transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano, Alex Matos is set to undergo medical tests at Championship outfit Huddersfield Town today and the loan deal will be sealed upon the completion of his medical.
Matos has been described by Chelsea's official website as a player capable of playing in midfield and attack.
Aged 19, he has been on the books of Chelsea since last summer following his transfer from Norwich City.
The talented teenager has been a regular in Mauricio Pochettino's matchday squads since the start of October, having received twelve call-ups for Premier League matches.
He made his Chelsea debut as a late substitute against Fulham on October 2, before another substitute appearance against Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
Matos has also figured for Chelsea's development squad with nine appearances combined in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
He penned his first professional contract at Norwich City who signed him from Luton Town in 2016.
Matos is set to link up with Nigerian midfielder David Kasumu and Mali U23 international Brahima Diarra at Huddersfield Town.
