Confirmed: Super Eagles-eligible midfielder ends 12-year association with Arsenal
Published: February 01, 2024Through a statement on their official website, Arsenal have announced that Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Miguel Azeez has ended his 12-year association with the Premier League club.
English-born Azeez, who is also eligible for the Spanish national team through his mother, has joined Spanish Primera Federación outfit CD Atlético Baleares in a permanent transfer.
The Hale End Academy product joined the Arsenal academy on schoolboy terms in May 2011, rising through the youth team ranks to sign his first professional contract in September 2019.
He made his professional debut in a Europa League meeting with Dundalk back in December 2020, playing the last seven minutes of a 4-2 win.
Overall, the Anglo-Spanish-Nigerian player received ten call-ups for first team games and was not utilized off the bench in nine matches.
The England youth teamer took in loan spells at Portsmouth, UD Ibiza and Wigan Athletic during his time at the Gunners.
Azeez is the fourth player to join CD Atlético Baleares in the winter transfer market, after Edu Campabadal, Nuha Marong and Pablo Muñoz.
After 21 matches in Group 2 of the Primera Federación, CD Atlético Baleares occupy the 17th position in the standings with 18 points.
