Confirmed: Super Eagles-eligible defender puts pen to paper on new deal with Brentford
Published: February 16, 2024
Through a statement on their official website, Brentford have announced that Super Eagles-eligible defender Val Adedokun has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2026.
Adedokun joined the Bees in the summer of 2021 from Irish side Dundalk and has progressed through the ranks since then.
He is currently an integral member of Brentford B, being the captain of the side, and played a key role in their Premier League Cup success last year.
The left-back has continued with his development this season, doing well for the young Bees, scoring a beautiful goal against Strasbourg U-21s in their first game at Wheatsheaf Park, Brentford B's home stadium.
The 21-year-old defender is yet to make his senior debut but has been in the matchday squad on five occasions in the Premier League this campaign.
Adedokun started his career in his country of birth, Ireland, spending his formative years at Malahide United before proceeding to Dundalk.
He progressed through the youth ranks at the Irish club and made his first-team debut in 2020 before moving to England the following year.
The full-back has represented the Irish U19s but hasn't been called up to the senior team which means he is still qualified to play for Nigeria.
