Ex-Tottenham coach reveals why he thinks Onyeka missed first-half sitter in Brentford's loss to Man City

Manchester City moved to just a point behind Premier League table toppers Liverpool with a 1-0 victory over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Norwegian goal machine Erling Haaland's goal in the 71st minute after a slip by Kristoffer Ajer proved to be the difference between the two sides.

As for team news, Frank Onyeka, widely regarded as the Super Eagles unsung hero at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, made his first Premier League start in just over two months for the Bees.

The Nigeria international had a couple of clear-cut chances to break the deadlock in the first half but squandered them.

In the 16th minute, Onyeka received a pass from Yoane Wissa and made a determined run towards the Manchester City goal, but his shot lacked power and was easily saved by goalkeeper Ederson.

In his halftime analysis on Premier League Productions monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, former Tottenham Hotspur coach Tim Sherwood  noted that Onyeka missed the sitter due to pressure from the speedy Kyle Walker.

Sherwood also observed that Ederson's save was relatively straightforward as Onyeka's shot was somewhat predictable, with the Brentford player rushing to take the chance.

Onyeka missed another opportunity to score in the 43rd minute when his header was once again stopped by Ederson.
