Five dual nationals Nigeria must secure ahead of 2026 World Cup, including Chelsea and Arsenal stars

Nigeria, one of the powerhouse of African football, is constantly on the lookout for talented players to bolster its ranks. With the 2026 World Cup fast approaching, the Super Eagles may need to look beyond their borders to secure the services of dual-national players who can elevate the squad to new heights.

AllNigeriasoccer.com takes a closer look at five of such players Nigeria should prioritize:

1. Michael Olise (Crystal Palace)

Olise has been a revelation in the Premier League this season, showcasing his dazzling skills and creativity for Crystal Palace.

Although he has represented France at U18 and U21 levels, Olise remains eligible to play for Nigeria.

His ability to unlock defenses and create scoring opportunities would be a valuable asset to the Super Eagles' attack.

2. Arthur Okonkwo (Wrexham AFC on loan from Arsenal)

Okonkwo, a talented goalkeeper currently on loan at Wrexham AFC from Arsenal, has already represented England at U16, U17 and U18 levels.

However, his Nigerian ancestry makes him eligible to play for the Super Eagles. Okonkwo's potential between the sticks, honed at the prestigious Arsenal's Hale End Academy, could provide much-needed competition and depth in the Nigerian goalkeeping department.

3. Luca Koleosho (Burnley FC)

This exciting young winger, currently plying his trade for Burnley, is of Nigerian descent by virtue of being born in the United States to a Nigerian father.

He is currently a youth international at U21 level for Italy whom he qualifies to represent through his Italian-Canadian mother.

By virtue of his birth, he is also eligible to don the colours of the USA and has already represented them at U15 level.

Koleosho's blistering pace, trickery, and eye for goal make him a dangerous attacking threat. Nigeria should make a strong case to secure his talents and add an extra dimension to their wing play.

4. Samuel Omorodion (Deportivo Alaves on loan from Atletico Madrid):

Omorodion, currently on loan at Deportivo Alaves from Atletico Madrid, is a highly rated young forward who has already impressed at the club notching eight goals in 25 league appearances this term.

Despite his current commitment to Spain at U21 level, Nigeria shouldn't give up on the chance to convince him to switch allegiances.

Omorodion's composure, finishing ability, and potential to develop into a world-class striker would be a major boost to the Super Eagles' mind blowing forward line.

5. Lesley Ugochukwu (Chelsea FC)

Ugochukwu, a promising young midfielder currently at Chelsea, is a current youth international for France at the U21 level.

However, his Nigerian descent makes him eligible to play for the Super Eagles. Ugochukwu's technical ability, tactical awareness, and passing range would add much-needed depth and tactical vastness to Nigeria's midfield.

Securing these five talented players would significantly strengthen the Nigerian squad. Their abilities, combined with the existing core of players, have the potential to propel the Super Eagles to new heights and make them genuine contenders at the 2026 World Cup and beyond.

The Nigeria Football Federation must act swiftly and decisively to convince these players to represent the nation of their heritage, ensuring a bright future for Nigerian football.
