Nigeria U20 international Victor Eletu is still on course to become the second Nigerian-born player to win the UEFA Youth League following AC Milan's win on penalties against Real Madrid on Wednesday,allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Left-footed central midfielder Eletu was in action at the Puma House of Football - Centro P. Vismara, lasting seventy minutes on the pitch before his substitution as the young Rossoneri saw off Los Blancos.

Milan are through to the last four of the UEFA Youth League thanks to Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Kevin Zeroli who scored the decisive spot kick in a 4-3 win after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

No Nigerian-born player has managed to win the UEFA Youth League since Benin City-born central defender Godswill Ekpolo won it with Barcelona in 2014.

In the current Super Eagles squad, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidozie Awaziem failed to win the competition while wearing the colours of Leicester City, Arsenal, FC Midtjylland, Manchester City and Porto respectively.

Versatile London-born right-back Ola Aina is a two-time winner of the UEFA Youth League with Chelsea, in 2015 and 2016.

Spanish-Nigerian-South Korean winger Marvin Akinlabi was in the Real Madrid team that won the competition in 2020.

Eletu has started five of the eight games played by AC Milan in this season's UEFA Youth League.
