Super Falcons star Echegini fires warning to Banyana Banyana with hat-trick for Juventus
Published: March 30, 2024Ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers between Nigeria and South Africa, Super Falcons forward Jennifer Echegini has fired a warning to Banyana Banyana with a hat-trick for Juventus Women in their 4-0 thumping of Fiorentina in a Serie A Femminile fixture played at the Stadio Comunale Vittorio Pozzo Lamarmora on Saturday.
Julia Grosso gave Juventus the lead in the 10th minute who picked the ball up from the penalty area before roofing the ball into the top corner.
Three minutes later, Echeginni got her first goal of the game, dispatching Lineth Beerensteyn's pass into the back of the net.
The Dutch-born player got her second of the day in the 55th minute, thereby compounding the woes of Fiorentina before and sealed the victory for the Bianconere a minute after the hour mark.
She transferred to Juventus in January and has been in excellent form since joining the Italian outfit, scoring eight goals in eight league games.
The 23-year-old has been called up the coach Randy Waldrum for the doubleheader of the Super Falcons' clash with South Africa in the final round of the 2024 Olympics qualifiers.
Waldrum will be hoping that the versatile forward can replicate her good run of form when she reports for international duty next month.
