Trabzonspor remain interested in Southampton loanee Onuachu despite agreeing terms with Romanian
Published: April 22, 2024According to fotoMac, Trabzonspor are still interested in signing Southampton loanee Paul Onuachu despite just agreeing a deal in principle with Standard Liege for Romania international Denis Draguş.
Draguş is currently on loan at Gaziantep but is now set to join the Black Sea Storm after an impressive season in the Süper Lig, scoring 11 goals in 28 games.
Despite being on the brink of getting the Standard Liege loanee, Trabzonspor still want to retain the services of Onuachu at least for one more season, having been impressed with the performances of the lanky striker.
The 29-year-old wasted no time in showing his proficiency in front of goal, scoring in his first three league games and grabbing an assist as well which has made him one of the first names on Abdullah Avci's starting lineup.
He has only failed to register a goal involvement in seven league games, an indication of how consistent he has been at the Papara Park.
However, the Southampton-owned forward has been battling with his fitness since his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, only making the matchday squad for the third time last weekend in the win against Kayserispor.
He has 12 goal involvements in 19 games in the Turkish topflight this season, the second most for Trabzonspor this term.
