South Africa head coach Hugo Broos, has announced his 36-man preliminary squad to face Super Eagles and Zimbabwe respectively, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, billed for next month.
Headlining the long list is the former Brighton forward Percy Tau, whose wealth of experience will be needed to help the Bafana Bafana boost their World Cup aspirations.
Also included in the list is Ronwen Williams, who was outstanding in goal in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and was named in the team of the tournament as well as the Best Goalkeeper ahead of Stanley Nwabali.
There is also a place for Bournemouth-linked midfielder Teboho Mokoena, who was impressive during their semifinal clash with the Super Eagles at AFCON.
Burnley striker Lyle Foster, staged a return to the side, having missed AFCON due to his rift with Broos- his last appearance was against Ivory Coast in a friendly game last year.
They will face the Super Eagles on June 7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo before squaring up against Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium on June 11.
The one-time Africa champions sit second in the group at the moment with three points, one point ahead of Nigeria who are yet to win a game in the qualification series.
