After the return to action of Onuachu and Osayi-Samuel, Finidi has another fitness boost pre-Bafana Bafana

After the return to action of Turkish-based duo Paul Onuachu and Bright-Osayi-Samuel, Nigeria manager Finidi George has been provided with a further fitness boost ahead of his squad announcement for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa's Bafana Bafana and Benin's Cheetahs, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Boavista defender Bruno Onyemaechi is back in contention to be named in the Super Eagles squad list for the upcoming double header after recovering from a left knee injury.

The left-back was a surprise inclusion in Boavista's starting lineup in their 2-2 draw against FC Vizela on Saturday evening.

Onyemaechi lasted 69 minutes on the at the Estádio do Bessa Século XXI turf before making way for Masa.

The 25-year-old ended the 2023-2024 season with twenty-six appearances to his name in all competitions.

Regarding the other players on the Super Eagles injury list, Nantes winger Moses Simon, Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi and Empoli fullback Tyronne Ebuehi have no chance of recovering from their long-term injuries in time for the World Cup qualifiers.

The Italian-based duo, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen, were excluded from their respective teams' matchday squads in the latest round of Serie A matches

Although William Troost-Ekong has resumed full training at PAOK, the central defender is lacking match fitness, given that he has not played competitively for club and country for more than three months.
