WAFU B U17 AFCONQ: Golden Eaglets crunch tie with Togo gets new date and time
Published: May 22, 2024The Golden Eaglets final group game in the WAFU B AFCON U17 qualifiers against Togo has been postponed.
According to information garnered from the official X handle of the West African Football Union Zone B, it revealed that match will now take place on Thursday at the Rugby Pitch of the University of Ghana at 0900 hours, Nigerian time
The game was postponed as a result of a heavy downpour which made the pitch unfit to use and forced the authorities to postpone the encounter.
The development also affected the other group game between table-toppers Burkina Faso and third-placed Niger, with the clash also postponed till tomorrow.
With a win against Niger in their last game and a draw in their opening clash in the tournament, Manu Garba's side are well placed to secure a qualification to the next round and boost their chances of qualifying for the main edition of the tournament.
The Golden Eaglets only need a draw against Togo to book their place in the last four where they will face either Ivory Coast or Ghana, depending on whether they finish first or second in their group.
Nigeria are the defending champions of the competition and will be hoping they can retain the title at the end of the tournament.
